Diversity and Anti Racism

CFAMFT stands against racism

CFAMFTDiversity Update

CFAMFT acknowledges the impact racism has in our country. We continue to be engaged in the fight against racism. We feel it is not simply a time to acknowledge, but also a time to act. Please see CFAMFT’s Anti-Racism Statement along with a Call for Action that includes different challenges each month for our members and community to engage in, so we become better together.

CFAMFT Anti-Racism Statement

CFAMFT is an organization that promotes inclusion, diversity, and the value of human life.  We do not tolerate or participate in any kind of discrimination, injustice, or violence. As an organization that focuses on mental health and wellness, we recognize the profound toll that discrimination, racism, and violence has had, and continues to have, in our community and our world. We are systemic thinkers.  We understand that we must examine racism in ourselves and other individuals, and also in the destructive impact institutionalized racism has had on our communities of color.

We stand with those who work to end racial injustice.  We must have open and honest dialogue about how to end suffering and enact change as an organization and in the world at large.  We must do more.

We commit to improving community outreach (to under-served populations), making diversity a priority in our board recruitment, and increasing awareness to mitigate implicit bias in board meetings and monthly CEU presentations.  We commit to speaking up and out.

CFAMFT encourages us to have difficult conversations, to sit with our own uncomfortable feelings, and to use our discomfort to move into action toward increased equality and compassion for all.

Call for Action

It takes all of us to do something to work towards eradicating racism. If we each do something and do so consistently, then we can create a community where racism cannot exist. CFAMFT will be sharing ways each month that you can do something. Also, we encourage our members to share things each of us and our organization can do to fight against racism.

This month let’s take action against implicit bias.
