Welcome and thanks so much for visiting our Central Florida Association for Marriage and Family Therapy website. I am honored to be serving my second year as president in an organization that represents marriage and family therapists in our area and provides education, training, supervision, advocacy, networking, support, fellowship, and promotion of our field.
Our theme for last year was all about change. Many of the families we see as therapists have faced difficult times and hopefully there will be change for the better in 2010. As marriage and family therapists we nurture change in the work we do every day. Families change, grow, and flourish. They evolve with our help. As members of CFAMFT our mission is “to connect and support a community of counseling professionals, and to facilitate their professional identity, growth, and development in order to promote healthy relationships among those we serve.” CFAMFT is growing and evolving. Our theme this year is “2010: The Evolution of our Family.”
When I joined CFAMFT in 2005, I knew that I was joining an organization where my talents would be put to use. I would evolve as a person and a professional. I could learn from similarly driven members, and that my role no matter how big or how small would make an impact because I had become a part of an effective and respected organization. This year we will celebrate change, embrace diversity, and evolve. I have a wonderful, committed Board of Directors. I look forward to serving as your president. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Gail York, M.A., N.C.C.
