Greetings and welcome to the Central Florida Association for Marriage and Family Therapy website. This year, CFAMFT is celebrating its 30-year anniversary as the principal organization supporting and representing Marriage and Family Therapists in the Central Florida area.
It is a great honor and privilege to be serving as President during this landmark year in the history of this wonderful organization. I’d like to thank all the past and present members who have done so much to ensure our continuation as a high quality organization that has been and continues to be a front-runner in maintaining excellence in our profession.
Our theme last year was 2010: The Evolution of Our Family. Our aim was to promote the growth and evolution of our clients’ families as well as our family of therapists. As we evolve, we continue to learn and grow so it seemed only natural that this year’s theme would be “2011: Growing Through Diversity: Expanding Counselor Competence”.
I’m proud to be part of an organization that continues to value diversity and has worked hard to value every single member within the organization. I began my association with CFAMFT as the Student Representative back in 2004. Over the years since, this organization and the wonderful people in it have helped me to grow and develop as a therapist and as a person. I am deeply grateful for all the opportunities I have been given as a result of my involvement in CFAMFT.
We are looking forward to a year of great presentations given by a host of wonderful presenters, embracing new opportunities to promote diversity within our organization and in our community, and celebrating 30 years of excellence! We have an excellent, dedicated Board of Directors to help us achieve even more this year so we hope you will join us to make 2011 the best year ever!
Stay tuned for more information as to how we plan to honor the past 30 years and some of the people who made our organization what it is today. You won’t want to miss it!
Sincerely,
Deborah Goodwin, MA, LMHC, NCC
